Expenditure caps for the 2024 Local Government elections

Electoral expenditure is capped between 1 July 2024 and Saturday, 14 September 2024.

Expenditure caps are listed alphabetically by local government area name:

A – B
C – F
G – L
M – R
S – Y

In areas with a councillor and mayoral election there are different cap amounts for the following electoral participants:

  • mayoral candidates and groups that include a mayoral candidate

  • non-mayoral candidates and groups that do not include a mayoral candidate

  • third-party campaigners.

If you are a candidate for a councillor and mayoral election in the same local government area, you have one expenditure cap which is the cap for a mayoral candidate.

In areas with a councillor election only there are different cap amounts for the following electoral participants:

  • candidates and groups

  • third-party campaigners

If a local government area is divided into wards, the cap is the same for each ward.

If you are a candidate who is a member of a group one cap amount applies to expenditure incurred by the group and each group member.
