Postal vote applications now open for City of Griffith by-election

Applications for postal votes at the upcoming City of Griffith Local government by-election are now open.

The by-election is being held to elect one councillor.

NSW Electoral Commissioner John Schmidt encouraged electors wanting to cast a postal vote to submit their applications as soon as possible.

Postal vote applications close at 5pm on Monday, 11 February 2019.

Postal votes must be returned by 6pm on Monday, 18 February 2019.

"Electors can download an application form at elections.nsw.gov.au or request one by calling us on 1300 135 736," Mr Schmidt said.

People already registered as general postal voters with the Australian Electoral Commission will automatically receive ballot papers in the mail and do not need to apply for a postal vote.

Mr Schmidt reminded voters that it was compulsory for enrolled voters to vote at the City of Griffith by-election.
