Media Advisory - 2017 disclosures published

Disclosures lodged under the Election Funding, Expenditure and Disclosures Act 1981 of political donations made and/or received and electoral expenditure incurred are now available to view on the NSW Electoral Commission website.

The disclosures cover the reporting period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017.

This year the NSW Electoral Commission expected to receive more than 4,000 disclosures from political parties, donors, local councillors, MPs and others. Around 80 per cent of disclosures have already been lodged with the NSW Electoral Commission. Disclosures were due to be lodged by 22 September (or 20 October for political donors).

Disclosures are subject to compliance audits to identify whether there have been any breaches of NSW campaign finance laws.

Many of the disclosures relate to the 2016 Local Council elections. The 2017 Local Council elections disclosures will not be lodged with the NSW Electoral Commission until after 30 June 2018.

All disclosure data from 2016/17 is searchable by category and is downloadable. Available data is based on information as provided in the disclosures lodged with the NSW Electoral Commission.
