Alert: Review into technology assisted voting: Interim report

The NSW Electoral Commissioner John Schmidt has released the interim report of his review into technology assisted voting.

The review is considering future options for technology assisted voting in New South Wales, following the unavailability of internet voting (iVote) for the 2023 State General Election. It examines whether internet and other forms of technology assisted voting can be provided by the Electoral Commission at future elections.

The interim report sets out the Commission’s provisional findings, informed by stakeholder submissions and consultation including the Commission’s Equal Access to Democracy (Disability) Reference Group.

The Commissioner invites written responses to the Interim Report by Thursday 14 September 2023. Feedback received from this phase of consultation will inform the final report to the New South Wales Government.
