Election notice No.1: Notice of election and close of rolls

2024 NSW Aboriginal Land Council elections

Elections are to be held for the nine Councillors of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC). One member will be elected to represent each NSWALC region: 

  • Central
  • Northern
  • Sydney and Newcastle
  • Mid North Coast
  • North Western
  • Western
  • North Coast
  • South Coast
  • Wiradjuri.

Who can vote?

Voting members of a Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) enrolled by Wednesday, 6 December 2023 can vote. A person is only entitled to vote in respect of the LALC area for which the person is a voting member.

If a member is unsure whether they are eligible to vote in the election, the Chief Executive Officer of the LALC where they are a member should be contacted for confirmation. LALC members should also confirm that their birthdate and current residential address are correct on the membership roll. 

Close of membership rolls

LALC membership rolls for the election will close on Wednesday, 6 December 2023. The roll of a LALC may be inspected at the LALC office during normal office hours.

Nominations

Nominations can be lodged from Tuesday, 2 January 2024.  Nominations close at 12 noon Tuesday, 30 January 2024. 

Election day

Election day is Saturday, 24 February 2024.
