What is an agent?

An agent is the person who is legally responsible for the campaign finances and disclosures of a political participant. A person can be an agent for more than one political participant.

All agents have legal obligations and may be penalised if they do not comply with the law. Before a person can be appointed as an agent they may need to complete the NSW Electoral Commission’s agent training program that details the legal responsibilities.

There are two types of agents: party agents and official agents.
