I’d like to work at the upcoming election

You can register your interest to work at the election by submitting an Expression of Interest through the Work at an Election page.

The Expression of Interest will require you to provide information about any previous election experience, your work preferences and also to confirm statements regarding political neutrality and conflict of interest.

I’ve received an email and would like to register my Expression of Interest?

I would only like to work on election day, how do I indicate this on my application?

When completing the Expression of Interest you will be asked to indicate your availability for work at the election. Applicants can advise their preference to work on election day  and their availability i.e. full-time, part-time, weekends only etc.

I would only like to work in an office. How do I indicate this on my application?

When completing the Expression of Interest you will be asked to indicate your availability for work at the election. Applicants can advise their preference to work in the Election Managers office and their availability i.e. full-time, part-time, weekends only etc.

I’ve worked before, do I have to complete an EOI again?

Yes, an Expression of Interest must be completed for each election event. This will also ensure that we have current contact details and experience.  A new employee ID is generated for each election event.

I don’t live in NSW, can I still apply to work?

You are eligible to work at the election if you are enrolled on the national electoral roll.

I have a disability – can I still work?

Persons with a disability are encouraged to apply for positions at the election.

During the Expression of Interest you will be asked to indicate if you have a disability and if so, whether reasonable adjustment to the workplace is required. Applicants should complete these sections as applicable and the employment helpdesk will contact you to discuss your situation further.

My login and password are not working. What should I do?

All applicants are required to register for each election event. Staff who have worked on a previous election event cannot use the staff ID or password issued by the NSW Electoral Commission at the previous election.

When you register a new Expression of Interest for the upcoming event, a new employee number will be provided and the user will establish their own password. On completion of your registration an email will be sent confirming the employee number that you will use throughout the event.

Once registered if you forget the password you can contact the employment helpdesk on 1300 135 736 to request your password to be reset.

I’m not sure if I registered properly. What should I do?

On completion of your registration an email will be sent confirming your registration was successful. If you do not receive the email within 24 hours of registering your Expression of Interest please contact the employment helpdesk.

When will I receive the employment offer?

Offers of employment will generally commence from 4 weeks prior to election day.

I’ve received a SMS or email about working at an election but would like to be removed from your employment database?

If you no longer wish to be contacted about employment opportunities at an election please send your details and advice to eoi@elections.nsw.gov.au.

Please confirm if you don’t wish to be contacted for this election event or all future election events.

How do I access my income statement or payment summary online?

NSW Electoral Commission is reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP) and employees will no longer receive a payment summary from the NSW Electoral Commission.

When and how will I get paid?

It is generally expected that employees who are employed to work on election day, will be paid by electronic funds transfer to your nominated bank account within three weeks of election day.
