Posters

Registered political parties, candidates and others often produce and display posters regarding election issues.

Posters are only regulated at the time of the election - from the issue of the Writ. During this time, posters must contain the name of the person who authorised the printing of the poster and the name and business address of the printer. This information must be printed in legible characters.

On election day in addition to the above, posters which exceed 8,000 square centimetres (80 cm x 100cm) must not be displayed within five metres of a building used as a polling place or on the fence of grounds enclosing a polling place.

Posters must not be displayed on Crown or local authority property. Posters must not be displayed on private property without the consent of the owner.

Further information is contained in the Handbooks - State Election 2007 section.
