4 August: Candidates nominate for Wollongong City Council election
Nominations for the Wollongong City Council election to be held Saturday, 3 September 2011 closed at 12 noon yesterday.
12 candidates have nominated for Lord Mayor.
83 candidates have nominated for the 12 councillor positions.
A full list of candidates is now available at www.elections.nsw.gov.au. Candidate’s information sheets are also available for viewing.
Pre-poll and Postal voting
Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry reminded voters of early voting options.
“If you cannot get to a polling place on election day you can still make your vote count by casting a pre-poll or postal vote”, said Mr Barry.
Postal vote applications will be accepted until 5.00pm on Monday, 29 August 2011.
Pre-poll voting is available Monday to Friday, commencing Monday, 22 August 2011 and closing at 6.00pm Friday, 2 September 2011 at the following locations:
Wollongong City Council: Returning Officer’s Office, Wollongong Town Hall & Community Centre, 93 Crown Street (corner Kembla Street) Wollongong.
Dapto: Community Office 1, Dapto Ribbonwood Centre, 93-109 Princes Highway, Dapto.
Thirroul: Black Diamond Room, Thirroul District Community Centre and Library, 352 Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Thirroul.
Election day is Saturday, 3 September 2011 between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
Voting is compulsory for all residents on the electoral roll. Further information about the election is available at www.elections.nsw.gov.au
Work at the Election
