Local government elections

Local government elections are held on the 2nd Saturday of September every 4th year. The next elections will be held in 2012. By-elections are conducted periodically when a vacancy occurs.

We are responsible for the conduct of all local government elections to ensure that they are conducted independently and impartially. Voting is compulsory.
