Elector Geo-Location System
Help us accurately locate your residence
The new Geo-location System has been devised to help the NSWEC ensure that electors are included on the NSW electoral roll within their correct electoral district or local government ward. The NSWEC’s Electoral Roll generally records address information in the form which is common, that is a street number, street name, locality and postcode.
Within some parts of NSW, your conventional address may not accurately locate your residence with respect to the electoral boundaries and so you may not be placed on the electoral roll for the correct electoral district or Local Government area for the next NSW election.
The NSW Electoral Commission would appreciate receiving the assistance of electors in NSW by asking for help allocating a geo-code to your residence. The geo-code is a fixed position similar to a GPS co-ordinate (Global Positioning System) which is attached to the residence and stored against the Electoral Roll. This will reduce the chance of any confusion before the next State election and, with appropriate privacy safeguards may also be considered for use by emergency services to locate your residence in the event of an emergency.
