Your vote is your voice in your local area. Be heard.
Enrolment
To be eligible to vote, you must be correctly enrolled. If you’ve changed address you’ll need to update your enrolment. Or if you’ve turned 18 or become an Australian citizen, you’ll need to enrol to vote for the first time. Voting is compulsory and all enrolment forms must be received by 6pm Monday 4 August 2008. The penalty for not voting in local government elections is $55.00.

Voting is not compulsory for enrolled non-residential electors except those enrolled on the Council of the City of Sydney roll.

Who do I vote for?
You will need to vote for the people you want to represent you on your local council. Councillors are elected for a four year term. In some councils you will vote for the Mayor who is also elected for a four year term.
What if there’s a referendum or a poll?
If your council is holding a referendum or poll you will vote on these issues.
